Office of Communications and Public Liaison
In addition to conducting and supporting research, the NIDDK manages education and information programs to disseminate science-based health information and research news to patients and their families, health professionals, reporters, and the public.
The Office of Communications and Public Liaison advances the mission of NIDDK by translating and disseminating research results to the public to improve the health and quality of life of those affected by diabetes and other endocrine and metabolic diseases; digestive diseases including liver and pancreatic diseases; nutritional disorders and obesity; and kidney, urologic, and hematologic diseases. Working closely with scientists and partners, we use social marketing and other methods to reach diverse audiences and meet their needs for the latest, evidence-based health information, including reporters seeking interviews or background information for stories. Collaborating with NIDDK divisions and offices, we manage niddk.nih.gov and coordinate related social and new media accounts to provide information about NIDDK research activities and advances.
