As director of the Human Nutrition Research Information Management (HNRIM) program, I oversee activities related to administration of the HNRIM system. The HNRIM system is the only congressionally mandated government-wide nutrition research and training database. This program provides data in support of many federal reports, including the Annual Report of the NIH program in Biomedical and Behavioral Nutrition Research and Training, and many congressional reports and testimonies related to nutrition. I direct and coordinate activities that ensure the scientific accuracy and all administrative- and computer-related activities needed to develop, maintain, and service the HNRIM system. Such activities include data compilation; updating, organizing, and assessing data from various sources; quality control; and website and database maintenance. My responsibilities include coordinating with the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements to identify and capture relevant research and providing a subset of HNRIM data for the CARDS (Computer Access to Research on Dietary Supplements) database.
