From time to time, everyone feels sad or hopeless. If these feelings don’t go away, they may be a sign of depression.

If you are feeling sad or hopeless, having trouble concentrating, or no longer take interest in activities you once enjoyed, you may have depression – and you’re not alone.
Depression is common and affects people in different ways. Stressful life events, your age, gender, family history, and medical conditions, like diabetes, are important when identifying and treating depression.
Talk with your doctor if you are experiencing signs of depression, such as feeling very tired, hopeless, or helpless. Many treatments for depression are available – your doctor will help find the best treatment for you.
