The Centers of Excellence in Hematology consortium is designed to increase resource sharing and collaboration in the national multi-disciplinary research effort to combat nonmalignant hematologic disease. The consortium improves cost-effectiveness of critical reagents preparations, maintains state-of-the-art resources and contributes to quality control of reagents and procedures. The consortium serves as a national resource of the larger nonmalignant hematology community as well as for enrichment of scientists just beginning their careers in the field of nonmalignant hematology research and provision of pilot data for inclusion in future NIDDK R01 grant applications.
