Executive Summary
The George M. O'Brien Urology Research Centers and Developmental Centers for Interdisciplinary Research in Benign Urology serve to advance the NIDDK’s mission in benign urologic conditions by supporting innovative and highly meritorious research and training and career development programs. A renewal of these Centers Programs is proposed to allow for continued advances in our understanding of the underlying mechanisms of urologic disorders, to further support the development of new prevention and clinical management strategies, and to ensure a strong and diverse urologic research community. To promote productive interactions between the various Centers, associated Career Development Programs, and the broader urology research and clinical communities, a solicitation for a Urology Centers Program Interactions Core is also proposed.
