Executive Summary
Interdisciplinary research is increasingly being recognized as the foundation for the development of new scientific knowledge and discovery. Many research programs currently funded by the Division of Kidney, Urologic and Hematologic diseases (KUH) require expertise from a variety of scientific disciplines. Despite the recognition of the significance of multidisciplinary approach to science, exposure to interdisciplinary education is limited. One potential approach to address the current gap in interdisciplinary education is to create a program that would recruit graduate students from a variety of disciplines to pursue postdoctoral training in KUH diseases. Ultimately, this program aims to establish a steady pipeline of new talent and innovative approaches to science of interest to the KUH research communities.
