Dr. Andrew Narva director of the NIDDK National Kidney Disease Education Program (NKDEP), received the 2018 National Kidney Foundation Public Service Award for his work with NKDEP and the Indian Health Service. This award honors those who have dedicated their careers to public service and have helped shape public policies or government programs that improve outcomes for kidney patients.
Editor's Note: NIDDK Director Dr. Griffin P. Rodgers received the Harlem Fine Arts Show (HFAS) Lifetime Achievement Award in Medicine June 14. The award is part of HFAS' African Americans in Medicine Initiative, which celebrates influential scientists and clinicians.
Eight NIDDK intramural investigators were recently honored with the 50-Year Length of Service Award from the Health and Human Services (HHS) Departmental Awards in recognition of their commitment to the mission of the HHS. NIDDK awardees included:
