New NIDDK video urges participation in clinical trials

Clinical research wouldn’t happen without study participants. Just in time for Clinical Trials Day on May 20, NIDDK has created a new video to encourage participation in clinical trials. NIDDK Director Dr. Griffin P. Rodgers outlines why volunteering is important, particularly among those most affected by a disease or illness, noting that race, ethnicity, age, gender, and physical size and ability can all play roles in the risks and outcomes for many conditions. Rodgers discusses how volunteer safety is especially important, which is why guidelines and a review board are in place to ensure study safety.
