Responsibilities & Activities
As a Presidential Management Fellow and Program Director at NIDDK, I oversee the R13 Conference Grant portfolio within the Division of Kidney, Urologic and Hematologic Diseases.
My scientific interests include stem cell biology and tissue regeneration. I am an active member of the Hematology Team, which encompasses multiple non-malignant hematology programs, including (but not limited to) Erythropoiesis, Hematopoiesis and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Biology. I am also involved in the (Re)Building a Kidney Consortium, which coordinates NIDDK-supported science intended to generate or rebuild nephrons to promote functional improvement of the kidney.
I also have broad interests in the neural control of renal, urologic and hematologic functions. To this end, I serve as liaision to the NIH Common Fund Stimulating Peripheral Activity to Relieve Conditions (SPARC), which supports science intended to enhance our understanding of nerve-organ interactions, advance the field of neuromodulation, and promote therepeautic developments for a variety of diseases and conditions.
