Current Responsibilities & Activities

The Diabetes Complications program includes basic, translational, and clinical research on acute and chronic complications of type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus.  My program in the Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases includes diabetic wound healing, diabetic peripheral sensory neuropathy, and clinical research with outcome measures for multiple diabetic complications.  In addition, it includes research on the molecular and cellular impact of hyperglycemia and the other metabolic changes of diabetes that underlie tissue damage in multiple organ systems;   My related activities include coordinating diabetic complications research for the Type 1 Diabetes Special Funding Program.
