Current Responsibilities & Activities

My grant portfolios include: (1) Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer Research (SBIR/STTR) program supporting development of therapeutic and diagnostic products (e.g., drug, device, and software) in the areas of type 2 diabetes, obesity, adipose tissue, energy balance, cystic fibrosis, neuroendocrinology, and hormone-related bone and mineral metabolism;  (2) Pathway to Independence Awards (K99/R00) in the Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolic Diseases (DEM); and (3) DEM Scientific Conferences Grants (R13). I am also responsible for DEM R21 grants administrative management.

Bioengineering, Biotechnology, and Imaging as applied to Diabetes, Metabolic, and Endocrine Diseases
This program supports research that is aimed at applying sophisticated, cutting-edge technologies to advance the understanding of the mechanisms that underlie diabetes and other endocrine and metabolic diseases

Cystic Fibrosis
This program supports both basic and clinical studies on the etiology, molecular pathogenesis, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of cystic fibrosis and its complications
