    The packets of DNA that carry genetic information do not always stay in the same from generation to generation.  Sometimes bits of DNA are copied out of a chromosome, duplicated, and inserted into a new location.  These “jumping genes” can cause diseases.  I am studying how some proteins help make this relocation of DNA possible.​
