NKDEP Pharmacy Working Group

Created in 2012, the Pharmacy Working Group (PhWG) was convened to explore ways to increase pharmacists' knowledge of chronic kidney disease (CKD) so they can participate more effectively in managing CKD patients. In addition to developing educational resources for pharmacists, the group will also create tools to promote medication management in CKD patients. The group is currently developing a Continuing Education program for pharmacists on how to safely use NSAIDs in high-risk patients. Additionally, the group will focus on potential incorporation of eGFR values into e-prescriptions in collaboration with NKDEP's Health Information Technology Working Group.

The PhWG is comprised of government, academic, and community pharmacists as well as the broader medical community.
