If you find out that you have kidney disease, there are steps you can take to keep your kidneys from failing.

Kidney disease usually cannot be cured. However, you can take steps to make your kidneys last longer and to reduce your risks for serious complications such as a heart attack or a stroke.

You need to talk to your doctor to come up with the best treatment plan.

Controlling your blood pressure is extremely important to protect your kidneys, whether you have early or advanced kidney disease. It is best to keep your blood pressure below 130/80.

If you have diabetes, keeping your blood sugar under control is vital to protecting your kidneys.
