Presentation - Update on NIH’s Latest Clinical Research for Diabetes Prevention, Management & Obesity

During this presentation, Mary Evans, Ph.D., program director within the Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition at NIDDK describes the obesity epidemic in the United States and the health effects associated with overweight and obesity. Dr. Evans summarizes the health benefits of modest weight loss and describes two large NIH-funded multi-center clinical trials designed to produce weight loss in overweight and obese individuals who are either at risk for or have diabetes. Dr. Evans also reports the long-term effects on health outcomes of these trials, the most effective parts of each program, and the sub-groups who were most successful. This presentation was given on November 2015.
