Diabetes Prevention Program Outcomes Study (DPPOS)

The Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) was a multicenter trial examining if an intensive lifestyle program or treatment with metformin would prevent or delay the development of type 2 diabetes in people at high risk for the disease. The DPP Outcomes Study (DPPOS) is the long-term, ongoing follow-up of the original DPP. DPPOS seeks to evaluate the effects of the interventions on the further development of diabetes and diabetes complications, including heart, kidney and eye diseases.
