Research Projects: I am currently involved in both gastroenterology and hepatology research. These include using sickle cell liver disease as a model in understanding factors that predict progression and regression of liver disease, study of the role of miRNA in the interferon pathway and hepatitis C, utilization of SmartPill© in the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease, use of monoclonal antibody in the treatment of hypereosinophilic syndrome/eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorder and the role of gastrointestinal immune cells in idiopathic CD4 lymphopenia.

Research Projects:  I am currently involved in two clinical trials; one evaluatin gthe utility of a novel gastrin antagonist in patients with gastric carcinoid tumors and the other evaluating the effect of a proton pump inhibitor in Barrett's esophagus.  My other research projects include the medical management of gastrointestinal manifestations in chronic granulomatous disease and the association between elevated tryptase levels and irritable bowel syndrome.

Research Projects: My research interest include clinical, epidemiological and outcomes research in a spectrum of gastrointestinal and liver disorders.  I am currently involved in evaluating the presentation, natural history and diagnosis of familial midgut carcinoid tumor - through an ongoing cohort of familial carcinoid patients at the NIH Clinical Center.  I am interested in population-based risk stratification methods for colorectal cancer screening, volumetric assessments as a surrogate marker for diagnosis and outcomes evaluation of liver disorders, and developing biomarkers to predict gastrointestinal inflammation.

Research Projects: My research interest include multiple areas within gastroenterology including Clostridium Difficile infection, Barrett's esophagus, and quality improvement in screening colonoscopy.  My research projects include studying the treatment efficacy of high dose proton pump inhibitors in the treatment of Barrett's esophagus and the utilization of educational applications to enhance the quality and patient experience of bowel preparation prior to colonoscopy.
