Dictionary Definition: ulcerative colitis

A chronic disease in which abnormal reactions of the immune system cause swelling and ulcers on the inner lining of your large intestine. Ulcerative colitis is one of two main forms of inflammatory bowel disease. The other form is called Crohn’s disease.
