Urology Basic Research
The mechanisms and pathophysiology underlying noncancerous urologic disease and its progression.
The Urology Basic Research program advances fundamental research on the bladder, prostate, urinary tract, and male external genitalia. The portfolio supports studies that investigate lower urinary tract development, productive and maladaptive repair of the lower urinary tract, biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, metabolism, transport, innervation and neural control, and whole-organ physiology and how abnormalities in these processes contribute to noncancerous disease.
