Urology Developmental Biology & Aging
Research on the developing and aging lower genitourinary tract.
The Urology Developmental Biology and Aging program focuses on fundamental mechanisms through which the lower genitourinary (GU) tract develops and ages. Specific projects examine the mechanisms underlying stem cells and cell fate specification, differentiation of epithelia, and innervation of the GU tract during development and aging. The program also supports research on cell-cell interactions, smooth muscle specification and differentiation, vascularization, and the hormonal regulations of these processes.
