Last week, I spoke about the NIH’s Body Weight Planner tool. Today, I am going to talk about how the tool can help you create a plan to reach and maintain your weight goal over time.

Hi, I’m Dr. Griffin Rodgers, Director of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases at NIH.

The Body Weight Planner lets you create a personal calorie and physical activity plan to reach your weight goal. Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you can come to a point when you no longer lose weight.

If this happens, try not to be discouraged or frustrated. Here are tips to help you reach your weight goal:

  • make a shopping list
  • dish out smaller servings
  • stay active
  • seek support from friends and family
  • and expect setbacks and forgive yourself
