Living with the daily demands of diabetes can be challenging. Having a network of support can help.
Hi, I’m Dr. Griffin Rodgers, director of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases at NIH.
Research has shown that having a network of support can help people with diabetes better manage their health.
You may think of your network as only including the medical professionals who help you with your diabetes. Your network of support can also include family, friends, and members of your community.
Consider joining a support group, or take classes to learn about living with diabetes. To find a class, check with your health care team, hospital, or area health clinic.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. A member of the clergy or a friend or family member who will listen to your concerns may help you feel better. Remember, you are not alone.
